Breakout EDU kits provide opportunities for multi-modal styles of learning such as kinesthetic and visual. The creativity of my students will be exposed as they work together to solve puzzles in various subject areas. In our math and science classes, for example, they will be used in small group instruction and rotations in which they will utilize the provided tools such as the locks and UV light to help determine what their next move will be. These are important life skills that students need to learn at a young age in order to apply them as they start to make important decisions that affect their future. The platform access lessons will assist me in reinforcing content that is student-led. The kits will encourage self-sufficiency and pride in their own work.
Donations to the Breakout EDU project will support my students' learning and their ambition to want to learn.
The great thing about these kits is that they can be used with various subjects. For example, language arts is blended with math and science in our class. Not only do my students learn to solve numerical problems, we often apply reading and writing strategies similar to what the kits provides, a blended use of various subjects. By implementing this project as part of our curriculum, my students' confidence will increase and create a structure of opportunities that will only set them up for a path of success.
