Colorful visuals engage our learners and bring 2D materials to life. Many students with limited verbal expression use picture cards to express themselves using functional language. Visuals are used all around their classrooms to support their verbal expression, comprehension, social language, vocabulary growth and more. A color printer and laminator would allow me to create long-lasting, rich visuals to support these students throughout the school day. Examples of visuals include: -picture cards of functional words, phrases and sentences to support literacy activities -visual schedules to show students a visual representation of all of the activities planned for a given lesson -picture word functional language cards for teachers to wear on their lanyards as visual reminders -PECS, CORE 40 and Tobi visuals -homemade bingo boards for articulation targets -social stories (that are read by students every day to learn expected behaviors at school) -2D homemade picture puppets to bring stories to life (example: A Very Hungry Caterpillar picture printed in color, laminated and glued to a popsicle stick. Students place the colorful, laminated food items from the story through the caterpillar puppet鈥檚 mouth as the story is read)
