Autistic students need sensory items in order to regulate their bodies to be able to learn.
Swinging, spinning, and smooshing sand, all of these inputs can help focus an Autistic student and help them to navigate through their day.
A new swing will help some of my younger less able students receive the input they need before starting to sit down for work.
Kinetic sand helps to soothe a student who is having a hard time, giving them an appropriate way to calm their body and rejoin the class.
Many of my students will be unable to focus and complete a task unless they are given an item that will motivate them to continue working.
