My classes are working on self-awareness, feelings and choices when problem solving. I am the counselor who has been placed back into a classroom capacity due to budget cuts. I am teaching Humanities with a counselor feel.
My students are learning how to be present in the moment, how to deal with their thoughts and feelings, and how to make good choices for themselves and the people in their worlds.
Fitting in and understanding the emotions that go along with growing up are often missed in the everyday classroom due to the emphasis on curriculum. Socialization and self-actualization are two things that are key to the success of an adult. My students are learning how to get along with others, how to make good choices when confronted with a tough situation, and how to navigate their own ever-changing emotions.
The materials I am requesting will help with teaching about their emotion and choices. We need stuffed animals, books, markers and chalk.
