This novel, On My Honor, will provide a concrete learning opportunity for students to see how impulsive children their age can sometimes be. This novel study will allow them to identify the characters to themselves and compare how the choices they make today can affect not only their tomorrow but the rest of their lives.
These materials not only help students look beyond the next two minutes, they help them to start to plan for the rest of their lives.
The book study allow for an open dialogue of the decision-making process, doing the right thing (even when no one is looking), planning for the future, and telling the truth. More importantly, it expresses one of the Golden Rules that we as a society impress on our children, but don't always follow, "Honesty is the best policy."
