Students will be able to create art while also addressing needs based on their IEP. Those with Occupational Therapy, will benefit from holding the paint brush, brush strokes, and stirring/mixing acrylic paint. Students will explore color and articulate the various shades. When students complete their painting, they will introduce their work to their peers and in their best ability, explain their work (what it is, why did they choose this topic, how did it make them feel while painting, etc.). Student work will also be displayed in the classroom as well as be presented to the school district's art department for possible display in upcoming student art shows. The entire experience will encourage the students desire to seek socially appropriate outlets for expression and encourage a love for art.
