It's a challenge when students don't feel good enough for a "regular classroom", so now they have to get what us educators like to call "extra help". My job as a special educator is to first, make children believe that they are just as capable as anyone who I don't work with, and second, use every experience they have with me to prove to them how correct I am.
Being a special educator takes a lot of love, and a little bit of magic. Having fun educational resources supply the magic I need to properly love and educate my students is imperative. This is why the the evidenced based reading programs I desire to have for my classroom are so essential; especially for my students who have to work through their Dyslexia.
The reading resources that I am asking for will not only make learning look like a great experience for my students, but it will help me to continue to prove that they are "good enough" and the "extra help" is okay because it's extra fun.
