Imagine growing up and not having the opportunity to ride a tricycle? Your family is constantly moving, you're in foster care and or homeless and when you moved, you had to leave your bike behind? Many of my students don't have much or anything at all but what they do have they cherish. My students are special needs and many have developmental milestones that they are working closely with an occupational therapist to meet.
In my classroom it's important to create learning experiences that will help support the needs of all of my students. These two trikes will help my students with hand eye coordination, stengthening their core muscles, balance and spatial awareness. Most importantly this will help with strengthening their gross motor skills. In order for my students to move towards fine motor skills such as writing this is a milestone they must meet first.
Unfortunately, the preschool program is not able to provide tricycles for my students to meet this important milestone in their development. Lastly, these trikes will help my students build endurance and perseverance in a fun and engaging way.
The road to a successful year in preschool begins with these trikes. To my future donors thanks for helping my students paddle, steer and ride into a successful year of learning!
