Our school is an incredibly diverse school with students from many different language backgrounds, cultures, abilities, and socioeconomic background. In this high-poverty neighborhood, over 80% of students are socioeconomically disadvantaged.
Even so, the young scientists in my 7th grade classroom are exceptionally wonderful people who are eager to learn. Their inquisitive nature and tenacity are keys to their success in the classroom. They are hard working and motivated students who have incredible potential.
I believe all students can learn and it is the job of the teacher to inspire and encourage students to achieve their very best. Because of the diverse learning needs of my students (including many English language learners, students with special needs, gifted students, and on-level students), I differentiate my teaching strategies by providing creative enrichment activities as we explore science together.
