Almost every day my students use technology to access or enhance their educational experiences in my classroom. I currently do not have ANY working laptops in my classroom. We have one cart to be shared by 6 classes, but it is often difficult to access the cart on a daily basis. Computers are part of our math and reading workshop stations to practice and apply important skills. Students use computers in writing workshop to collaborate with other students, and publish stories.
This year our class will be participating in the "Global Read Aloud" and we will collaborating through technology with classes all over the world who will be reading the same novel.
In science and social studies we regularly use the internet to look up information, to complete research, access videos to support our standards, and to make science and history "come to life" for the students.
Having several Chromebooks on hand for my students to use as needed will enable them to access the information they need to become proficient learners of the 21st Century.
