In a classroom full of diverse learners, flexible seating allows my students to choose a place in the classroom where they are comfortable and learn best. In my classroom now, students are using a variety of clipboards, lap desks, sitting on the floor and on couches. I have noticed amazing changes in my students behaviors and how much they are engaged when they have the choice of where to sit. Students of all different learning types can make choices of how and where they sit and they know the expectations of the flexible seating.
Students get more work completed in a more timely manner when they have the choice of how and where to sit. The wobble stools I have selected will allow students to safely tip and wiggle in their seats while working on task. These stools can be switched out for a traditional chair as well as moved around the room for many different uses. They are lightweight, portable, and easy for students to access.
The power of choice has proven to benefit my students in many ways. I know having even more choices for seating will positively influence my students concentration, comfort, and engagement.
