I am applying for a set of Chromebooks to aid in effectively meeting the needs of my diverse group of students, as well as aiding my ability to teach all of the standards in an effective and engaging way. The Chromebooks wouldn鈥檛 just be used for one specific assignment or project, but rather every day in every subject area.
For one example, the Chromebooks would be used in every subject area through the use of Google Classroom. With Google Classroom, our classroom discourse would be amplified, as now the students would be able to interact with each other digitally, by either commenting or sharing materials with other students, and also with me. They would practice necessary real world skills, while still learning the necessary benchmark standards. Allowing this different type of collaboration and communication to occur within the classroom would even fulfill a standard of its own. CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.SL.3.1 discusses 鈥渉aving students engage effectively in a range of collaborative discussions (one-on-one, in groups, and teacher-led) with diverse partners on grade 3 topics and texts, building on others' ideas and expressing their own clearly.鈥 By using Google classroom, not only will they be able to do this verbally or with paper/pencil, but now they will be able to complete this task digitally, which is extremely crucial in today鈥檚 society.
