Students need more than just lectures and worksheets to succeed in math class. My students need hands-on activities, projects, and games to stay engaged and be successful in the classroom.
By donating to my project, you will be making math fun and more engaging for my students.
Mixed integer operations is a difficult concept for both my 7th and 8th grade students to grasp. Why is the sum of two negative numbers negative, but the product of two negative numbers is positive? Using counters demonstrates the why behind these integer rules and gives students a hands-on explanation. Fractions are hard for everyone, but they are more fun when you learn and practice while playing a card game or dominoes. Dice, counters, cards, dominoes, and dry erase markers will be used for many different activities in both my 7th and 8th grade classes.
How are combination locks and boxes related to math? Breakout! This is a whole class activity where students work together to solve clues and 'breakout' something hidden in the box. My classes love to compete against one another and this has been a favorite activity in other classes.
