Learning to be Responsible!
In these early years, we lay the foundation for responsible citizenship. Children learn kindness, respect, and empathy—internal strengths that connect them to others. You can’t just talk about these feelings and expect understanding; kids need to experience them. Many programs are places children learn and experience these positive values.
Character education in the early years helps build strengths like honesty, responsibility, fairness, and compassion— internal assets that lead to happiness and well-being. These are the kinds of human qualities that foster responsible citizens, children who grow up to donate to others in need, recycle their trash, or help during a crisis.
All materials needed will help my students achieve their goal. Their goal is to crochet two scares in the first semester of school. One scarf is for themselves and the other scarf will be donated to a child or young adult that lives in one of the homeless shelters in their neighborhoods.
In order to make the two scarfs the students will need crochet hooks, scissors , and yarn. The canvas tote bags will help keep their materials organized by student.
This project will not only help them obtain a goal, but also enrich their experiences and understanding of responsibilities for others who are less fortunate then themselves.
Thank you!
