My students are very tactile/kinesthetic learners. They tend to struggle sitting in their seats doing 鈥渂ook work鈥. They would rather be moving around and using manipulatives to show their learning.
Because of COVID, my students are behind in where they should be academically and have not had a year of normal school the last two years. This has affected their ability to sit and learn in traditional ways. We have also had to play 鈥渃atch up鈥 on the skills they have missed. This has put extra stress on everyone, which has impacted the students even more.
These resources would allow my students to practice the standards that we have learned in ways that fit their learning styles.
The VersaTiles kits would allow my students to individually practice and check answers of skills that have been previously taught and we are tested on. The Algebra Game and the Linear Expression and Equations Dominoes would let my students play games while reviewing our lessons. They love games and don't always realize they are practicing math skills while playing!
Eighth-grade standards are heavy on linear functions and graphs. The write/wipe graphing boards and dry erase markers would allow the students to practice graphs and conserve paper.
We would use the calculators in getting ready for and taking the state test.
