As an adult I am sure you find it difficult to seat at your desk working all day. You might feel the need to stretch, move around, or adjust the settings on your chair.
If adults are unable to sit still all day and work productively how can we ask the same of children.
This is where flexible seating becomes a great tool in educating children to the best of their abilities. Flexible seating allows students the choice to move around the room, sit in a comfortable way and optimize their learning.
Studies have shown there are many benefits to flexible seating. These benefits include but are not limited to; giving students choice, helping with sensory input, building a sense of community and of course bringing fun to learning.
The next time you choose to curl up on your couch or stretch out in your favorite chair to read a book, enjoy a conversation or just to think, keep in mind my students can be doing the same in my classroom with your help.
