Growing up, I sat in hard wooden desks throughout my educational career. Today, we know that seating choices in classrooms help students learn by increasing attention and focus. When moving to a new classroom, I inherited six wobble cushions but would love to include these six wobble stools as seating choices. They would be especially helpful during small group activities to help my students get their "wiggles" out.
Flexible seating will help increase motivation in my classroom by giving students a choice in their learning and provide an outlet for their extra energy to improve their focus. Choice is very important in my classroom so my students can take ownership of their learning. In addition, more and more of my students each year are dealing with attention problems, and flexible seating will help them channel their energy into their work during small group or math rotations.
