Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During independent work times, they will be able to choose a location in the classroom that works for them. A comfortable environment will provide students with the confidence to try their best to achieve success in their goals.
Once students are comfortable in their environment, I have seen them show increased interest in reading their books. They are excited to talk about what they have learned and want to write about the story.
Currently, my students are choosing to work in a variety of locations in our room. Making sure students are comfortable is one of my top priorities inside my classroom. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating. Giving them the flexible seating options such as a floor table and seats, wobble chairs, balance balls, and beanbag seats will motivate them and help my students be more successful in their goals.
