The limited amount of laptops that my school owns were loaned to students for remote learning last spring. With current budget cuts, the school is not purchasing additional devices.
This means that entering the 2020-2021 school year, there are NO computers available for my special education Algebra classroom.
Without computers, my students with various special needs will not be able to access the tools they need to learn. For example, text-to-speech software, translators, online scribes, and video tutorials.
Without computers, I will not be able to support my students in accessing and navigating the online platforms that they will need to use during their time in remote learning.
Without computers, I will not be able to teach essential parts of the high school Algebra curriculum. For example, graphing functions, function simulations, correlation, and advanced calculator functions.
These 6 computers will be used in my classroom, providing over 50 students each day the essential technology that they need to be successful in Algebra this year.
*In the event that school moves to fully remote, computers will be loaned to students to use for remote learning, prioritizing those with the most need.
