Hello all, I am starting my second year teaching and I am looking to start my students out on the right foot on the first day of school. Because of this, I am looking to provide my students with some basic supplies to set them up for success!
Having these supplies going into the school year will ensure my students feel confident about the year ahead of them and ready to learn. Many of my students cannot buy their own supplies, and so having these provided to them will not only ensure their success in school, it will also teach them personal responsibility as they navigate caring for belongings that are personal to them. It's a goal of mine for students to leave my classroom with self-organization and self-management skills, and when students are responsible for their own materials, such as their own pencil box and pencils, they will practice those skills. Practicing these skills will not only help them throughout second grade, but will also help them as they gain more independence in upper grades.
These supplies will help my students to better access the curriculum(s) that we use throughout the year. In particular, having quick access to pencils helps my students quickly and efficiently participate in their morning work and our writing lessons. Having quick access to dry erase markers is a staple of our phonics lessons and our math lessons - both curriculums use dry erase to keep those lessons engaging and interactive.
Thank you for considering my classroom!
