These Chromebooks and iPads will be used on a daily basis for a variety of subjects and purposes. In the upper elementary grades, students are expected to type out their writing and be fluent in their keyboarding skills.
Without enough computers in our school for each student, it is difficult to make sure each student gets the time they need to gain 21st-century technological skills.
Not only will the Chromebooks and iPads be used for typing out their writing, researching, and creating presentations, but they will also be learning the foundational skill of navigating through the Internet. Technology in the classroom is extremely important for our school district at this time because of the new standardized tests based on the Common Core State Standards, called Smarter Balance Assessment, which has been implemented for three years. This test is taken on the computer, so students will be expected to have these computer skills.
Thank you for taking the time to read about this very important project to help my students have more exposure to technology through the use of Chromebooks and iPads.
