The students that come see me are the ones that are struggling with understanding Math. Many of them have a large gap in their learning when compared to their pees, and could potentially be retained. My goal is to get them excited about a subject they find difficult and bridge that gap to make them feel more successful. I have found specific math folder games, Math in a Flash! and place value hands-on kits, and math activity stations that are challenging and fun. The math games target Common Core State Standards while engaging student learning. Games can provide an environment that enriches and transforms the passive student into an active part of the learning process. I believe these resources will help build my students' confidence in math and make them understand that Math does count!
