Next year will be my first year as a first grade teacher in a dual language program. I noticed that my future classroom does not have a classroom library and this is something I want to build for my students. I think books are crucial in a student's education because it is through books that they will be able to learn about different parts of the world, different types of people, and different subject areas that will enhance the topics covered in class. Spanish literature is often difficult to find, but I hope to build a classroom library in which each student is able to find a book that is adequate for their reading level so they can practice reading independently.
These books would help my students have access to literature and have the ability to transcend into different adventures found in these books.
Students will become critical thinkers as they read and learn rich vocabulary as they are exposed to the Spanish language.
