My children are 4 year-Olds who are very active and curious about their surroundings. My school is pre-k to 5th grade. My classroom is composed of bilingual children who are for the first time introduced to the English language. We need lots of visuals, hands-on and creative projects to help them learn their second language. We are going through drastic budget cuts and as a result the school is cutting into our basic resources and materials. As a teacher, I am sadly obligated to give up fun and creative projects and to spend my money to buy basic materials such as pens, paper, pencils, notebooks to help my students. Therefore, I am not able to spend money to buy a fish tank. These children are very young and they desperately need pets to see them grow. They need creative ways to open their imagination. A Pet is essential in a pre-k classroom.
