My library is a warm and welcoming learning environment for readers. Kids flock to the library each week to talk about their books. I consistently provide space for twenty-five 7th graders on Thursdays and twenty 8th graders on Tuesdays for book club. We love talking about the books we are reading. They are already doing a great job of picking free choice books. Now they want to read together!
The two book sets I am requesting will give students the opportunity to have meaningful conversations about relevant topics that are close to their hearts. The book Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys is a moving holocaust novel that supports our 8th grade literature curriculum, and the novel Orbiting Jupiter by Gary D. Schmidt examines the life and choices of a troubled foster child. I know these two titles will stand the test of time and will thoroughly engage my readers! Thank you!
