This book, "Oklahoma, A History," will not only replace our dated textbooks, but will be instrumental in teaching important literacy skills in our classroom. Allowing students to read textbook information that is written in a novel style will help them develop cognitive pathways for reading, critical thinking, finding important information in typical settings.
Teaching students how to learn is becoming more important than teaching students what to learn. Using these books will allow us to develop those thinking skills necessary to be productive college students, movers and shakers in the workforce, and quality citizens in the future. Thank you for considering funding this project.
