The standards we are working to achieve are: RL.2.10, RI.2.10 - Being able to read and comprehend 2nd grade literature and informational text. Also RF.2.4 - Being able to read with sufficient accuracy and fluency to support comprehension. When given the appropriate tools, activities, lessons, and books, my students will have fun while learning the essential building blocks for success in reading. Having missed many foundational skills due to the COVID-19 year and a half of their schooling, we have a lot of ground to cover and hopefully make up for deficits in their education.
I would be thrilled to have this list of learning tools such as headphones, books, and a portable CD player accessible for all learners. The ones who struggle most, the average students, and the ones who catch on to reading quickly. All students can be successful at their own level of understanding as well as to be challenged to achieve more rather than be blocked by a frustrating challenge of not being able to read.
