A kindergarten classroom should be warm and welcoming. A classroom should inspire the mind to keep growing. "The Very Hungry Caterpillar", by Eric Carle, keeps growing through each day, changing a little bit each day. The students also grow a little each day. I'd like to decorate our room with this decor and have themed nameplates, mini notes and bulletin board border.
By the end of kindergarten, the children all bloom into beautiful individuals that change from the inside out. The story of the hungry caterpillar is such an engaging story that offers so many opportunities across the curriculum including math, language arts, science and most importantly, verbal communication. In order for the communication piece to happen, the kids must feel comfortable in their environment.
