This year, students in 1st grade, 2nd grade, and our Montessori classroom, spanning 1st-3rd grade, learned the Zones of Regulation during their counselor guidance lessons. I would like to continue teaching our students about self-regulation.
These Self-Regulation and Mindfulness books will be used in elementary classrooms to help teach self control to use in the students' everyday lives.
"Teach Your Dragon To Follow Instructions: Help Your Dragon Follow Directions," "Teach Your Dragon To Understand Consequences: A Dragon Book To Teach Children About Choices and Consequences," "Train Your Angry Dragon: Teach Your Dragon To Be Patient," and "The Mindful Dragon: A Dragon Book about Mindfulness" will be used in Kindergarten lessons.
"Helping Young People Learn Self-Regulation" will be the main curriculum used in 2nd grade. "What Should Danny Do?" and "Listening to My Body"
will also be read in 2nd grade.
"The Amazing Remote Control Self-Regulation Program" and "Calm & Alert: Yoga and Mindfulness Practices to Teach Self-regulation and Social Skills to Children" will be integrated into 1st and 2nd grade lessons.
"Coping Skills for Kids Workbook: Over 75 Coping Strategies to Help Kids Deal with Stress, Anxiety and Anger" will be used in 5th grade.
Our students will use what they learned in the Zones of Regulation and these various self-regulation and mindfulness books to expand their Social Emotional Learning by further understanding their emotions, best possible ways to react to how they feel, and ways to calm down, if needed.
