My students are required to complete 90 minutes of academic instruction on a blended learning program called, i-Ready. I have 29 students in my classroom. When they are all on their laptops at the same time, trying to complete lessons and monthly assessments, the noise level can become very loud. Each student needs an opportunity to be able to hear their personalized instruction in Math and Reading in order to be successful in their grade level. Students in third grade will experience the pressure of passing the Florida State Assessment for the first time. This assessment is critical and will determine their promotion to fourth grade.
When students are provided with the right instruction for their individual needs, academic success occurs! My students need to be able to listen to and respond accurately to the direct instruction they receive while on their blended learning programs daily. Success in this program can ensure future promotion and help to close the achievement gap. This is possible because the i-Ready program is an adaptive program which adjusts based on the students' responses on monthly progress monitoring assessments. Students receive lessons designed to close any gaps and moves them to the next level when the lesson objectives have been met. If each student has headphones, this will ensure they are able to hear and respond to the instruction they need for success!
