My students are highly diversified in what is becoming an inner-urban setting. With a high level of non-English speaking students, ELL classifications have risen. The school is a title one school in OK where budget cuts have left teachers crippled to supply students with what they need to learn. Because of the poverty mindset that plagues the area families, these children deserve every opportunity to experience rich educational experiences that give them the tools they need to overcome the poverty that keeps them bound. Many of these students have high aspirations to become doctors, lawyers, and nurses, as well as truck drivers, mechanics, and mommies. Making these choices for themselves is included in what teachers teach everyday - that choices make all the difference. They need to feel this power, and with educational supplies on hand, we can move forward in giving them the confidence and skills they need to succeed.
