My students all deal with emotional impairments and other challenges that create obstacles to their learning. The items on this list will provide them with the tools that they need to begin to overcome those barriers to their progress. I believe every child deserves an education tailored to their individual needs.
At the moment, the greatest need in their classroom is flexible seating, a small social emotional library of books and games, and items to help them maintain focus. The flexible seating will allow them to work at various academic stations and join in daily group activities such as read alouds, morning meetings, and restorative circles. It is my hope that a daily focus on Social Emotional Learning, supplemented by these games and books will help them not just socially and emotionally, but academically as well.
I can't wait to see the smile on these amazing young scholar's faces when they walk in and see the class set up the way they deserve it to be set up. Please join me in giving them the tools they need to learn and grow!
