I have provided flexible seating options for my students for the past 2 years. Flexible seating allows my students to feel empowered with the choice of where to sit and whom to sit by. Children need to move. This allows them to stand, rock, bounce or lean, which increases the flow of oxygen to their brain. This allows them to stay focused and more alert. We all know that an uncomfortable student is a distracted student. Flexible seating encourages them to pick a smart spot where they are able to stay calm ,focused and productive. Flexible seating also encourages my students to share and become a community with each other. With flexible seating students take turns in different locations with different seating options!
