If this project is fully funded, all my students will have access to dictionaries. They will be doing word work, in which they will find alternate definitions, parts of speech, pronunciations, word forms, word origins, etc. of vocabulary words each week. They will also be using these dictionaries in their writing projects, checking for spelling, word usage, grammar, etc. These dictionaries will be an important staple in my classroom for several years, in addition to other classrooms as needed. These American Heritage Children's Dictionaries will be an amazing asset to my classroom, and many students will benefit from their use! They will be reusable for several years, and an essential staple that will be used almost daily in my classroom. Occasionally, online dictionaries will also be used but I'm a firm believer that students must have the experience of hard copy dictionaries to prepare them for the future.
