Gone are the days of sitting in a desk all day and receiving direct teaching from the teacher. Students today are preparing for the real world, so they are moving, collaborating, communicating, and creating. They no longer need a typical elementary desk chair, they need something comfortable that they can move and have a choice in.
Using different types of seating sets students up for more focused and relevant work. I am asking for different types of seating, a couch, wiggle seats, and stools, so there are different areas in the classroom with different types of seating that could benefit students depending on what they are working on. Some types of seating are more beneficial for different types of work. Wiggle seats are good to move around on the floor so students can find a place to focus in the classroom. The stools can go with a high top table and are good for group projects where students may be up and down. The mini couch is a good comfortable spot for students to read independently. Having a choice empowers students, having something comfortable improves their stamina for work, and having different areas gives students better access for collaboration. The world is changing and the classroom needs to evolve to help students adapt to those changes.
