My 8th grade students chose this project after they read Hamlet and acted out the last few scenes. I have chosen A Raisin in the Sun, The Crucible, and Noises Off for this unit. My students will get up and act out these plays.
I found that when they get up and get active they are fully engaged in the class. Instead of sitting and reading these plays they will get assigned roles to act out everyday of reading.
I chose these particular plays for their importance in modern drama, as well as, the fulfillment of my own guidelines. One dramatic, one historical, and one comedic play, to expose them to a wide variety of theatrical literature.
