Students need social skills in order to be successful academically. Through this project my students will learn these skills through hands-on activities where they will learn how to express feelings and build self confidence. Many students have not had access to social environments due to COVID-19 and this is their first experience outside of the home. This project will help them learn needed skills to be successful throughout school and life.
Children need play in their life as it teaches them how to communicate needs and to work with others. These skills are necessary to become a successful grown up in life.
The cubby shelf will not only be helpful in storing items but it will also be an opportunity for my students to learn how to be independent when choosing, cleaning up, and putting things away. The play sets are for helping teach my students how to communicate and work together to complete tasks. For example, working together to create a coffee shop and make and sell coffee and donuts. This teaches my students how to be assertive and no what you want/need , number sense when checking out, and practicing manners.
