Reading is an essential part of life! Students in classrooms across the world are tasked with reading in all subject areas. The ability to do so determines success in school and ultimately in life. The sofas will give my students a relaxing place to read and learn that will catapult them into a world full of print.
There is a dual desire in wanting comfortable spaces for my students to read. First and foremost, children must be prepared to navigate their future whether they are sitting in a boardroom or on a basketball court. All things involve reading!
Sadly, many students living in urban or low-income areas associate reading with punishment. I want them to curl up and get lost in the pages of a book. Often the confines of a chair and desk fall short of creating this kind of ambience. Research indicates that pleasure reading may have a greater influence on a child's overall academic performance than their socio-economic background. We need your help to create those spaces in every classroom.
By donating to our project, you will not only improve reading and academic achievement, but you will ultimately change the trajectory of a child's life for many years to come!
