Kindergarten students love putting their hands on items. They learn by doing. When a student can place their hands on an items and manipulate it, they see how the ideas in their minds come to life.
Young minds asked the "what if questions". What happens if I do this or if I change that? What if this doesn't fit, how can I change it to make it fit? Their minds are still growing and they don't have all the answers yet.
STEM activities allow young minds to create and use their imagination with everyday items. Students can actually have something in their hands and visualize how it is working. It allows them to use the creatvie thinking in ther brain and watch it come to life. STEM activities help answer that never ending WHY question.
