The students will be using the digital scales for many different activities and labs within their science content. Students will conduct a mass lab where they first estimate the mass of various objects, then find the actual mass using a scale. Students will then practice converting the mass to different units. Another lab provides students with an understanding of geologic time and relative dating techniques by measuring out different colors of sand and creating a visual representation that allows them to see the relationships between the time intervals and to get a sense of the immense age of the Earth.
