I recently had a grant partially through a local foundation. My class is still in need of a few more activities to complete the originally written grant.
Math station activities and games are needed in my third grade classroom to assist in providing a hands-on approach to learning fundamental mathematics. With these math stations, students will work as a group to solve problems, explain their thinking, and draw mathematical conclusions, while collaborating with one another. Students learn by hearing, seeing and practicing. I want to make math educational, engaging, and meaningful by giving them the hands on opportunities these math station activities and games offer. These math stations will give students a fun and exciting way of experiencing mathematical concepts that will greatly enhance learning while building on to their current math skills when practicing.
Research indicates that small group instruction has a significant impact on student achievement; during our math stations, students will be in small groups where they will rotate throughout the classroom going to new activities and stations during the class period to enhance multiple areas of learning concepts while keeping the learning experience engaging and educational. Your donations will go toward ready-made activities and games that offer students quality opportunities to practice mathematical skills.
