I have been working on building my classroom library for many years. All of my books are paid for by me. Most of them are second, third, fourth-hand books that I am able to get at garage sales and discount book stores.
I am attempting to continue to build my library with the needs of my students in mind. This involves: Expanding all genres including even the less popular manga genre; including diverse voices from authors of color and protagonists of color; introducing students to new voices, ideas, and genres they may not have previously considered reading; and allowing students the one thing they must have to become life-long readers: Time to read with no strings attached.
