The six-graders (4-classes averaging 30-students) that enters my math classroom on a daily basis are students that are mostly self-motivated with a high desire to capture all learning and apply their learning to real life situations. The students are exceptional children with a variety of disabilities from diverse backgrounds. The students sit in groups of four for cooperative learning to actively participate in math discourse and modellling. The students strives to be great to the best of their ability. They have become teachers and assistants in their own right, let alone little relationship builders. As my students make gains in the classroom, I am showing them how to re-gain lost skills outside of the classroom and how to push forward to new skills that surpasses their current academic, as well as social levels. We celebrate together wins that occur on a daily basis in the classroom .
