The use of decodable books is an every day occurrence in my classroom. The majority of my students are in grades Kindergarten, First grade, and Second grade.
Most of the students I teach struggle to read three to five letter words and these decodable books help make it easier and fun to read because the books rhyme. I usually have about three students to every reading group so I need to make sure I have 3 of the same books of every set. Not only do the students read from these books, but I will also be taking words from these books for the students to write to help instill in their memory how to spell and pronounce the decodable words in these books. I want my students to become fluent readers and the connected text in these books will help with that
