Support Mrs. Urioste's classroom with a gift that fosters learning.
My classroom is located in the library to support the research component of STREAM. Students come to my classroom eager and ready to build things that reflect cultural and environmental needs. Along with an artistic or engineering activity, during the unit each grade level has to do some sort of research for background information. This creates a connection and deeper understanding as to why engineers and scientists strive to create these inventions.
Having iPads in the library would give students a fun and engaging way to convey their research to the rest of the class. My goal is to make a fun end project to the research students have to do. Hearing they have to write and research when coming to specials can be very tedious and discouraging to students. Knowing that they get to make a movie of themselves after doing their research promotes their excitement. Being able to use the touchscreen application of an iPad, students of all ages can learn how to easily edit and create videos.
Having iPads in the library would make it fun for students to collect data by taking pictures of our experiments. They only see me once a week so the pictures would aid them in where they left off when they come back. These tablets would promote all sorts of the use of technology for scientific purposes in my classroom and engage and excite students to learn!
