I began using my own ukulele to accompany songs in our class and the students became enthralled with the sound and how to play. I think the chance to learn this instrument would inspire them to learn even more about music and continue to pursue it when they leave elementary. The ukulele is a great instrument for small hands and can help students work on skills such as beat, rhythm, note reading, harmony, singing and more. Students can use these instruments in class time and in performances. I would also like to start an after school club for further use and experience.
