As a Special Education Teacher, my days are spent supporting my students both in and out of the classroom in a small group setting. In these small groups, my students are able to take risks and try new things that they may not feel comfortable doing in front of a large group of students, especially in reading. These small groups allow my students to get the instruction they need at their own pace, helping them to close the academic gap.
Having iPads available for my students to use during our small group reading sessions would enhance my reading instruction and also motivate the students to do their best while learning new skills.
These iPads would be great additions to my daily lessons, as we will be able to work on new and challenging reading skills in a highly motivating way. There are so many different apps available for the iPad that will help my students build their reading comprehension, fluency, and phonics knowledge, such as Raz Kids, an application that my students already love.
