Having a diverse classroom library is essential for my students to have the chance to get lost in them and explore new places. The books that I found give my students the opportunity to escape from reality. I am asking for a variety of fiction and non-fiction book sets including the Grade 5 Classic Grade Level Library book set, Step Into Reading: Nonfiction Set, the thirty book Goosebumps boxed set, and the eleven Diary of a Wimpy Kid Books. I a also requesting a set of 30 book bins and 30-slot mailbox to organize our books.
Being a Title One school and a new teacher, building the classroom library is expensive and the students suffer from the lack of funding. Our students love to read and are very motivated to read new books. They can be given the chance to learn about new things and about people they have never heard about by reading the ten What Was...? books and the twenty-four Who Was? Nonfiction set.
Giving my students the chance to experience the love for reading and being able to find just right books not only in the school library but our classroom library is a goal for me as a new teacher.
