Students will learn how to grow and harvest their own food in their own container gardens. They will need soil, seeds, watering cans, and other gardening items. They will research seeds, fertilizer, soil types, our local agricultural history, and we will have local speakers come in and share with them.
I am hoping this will help students feel pride in our agriculture community and proud producing food for their own families. They will take home their gardens at the end of the school year to enable them to continue their project.
This project will give them purpose, pride and excitement about coming to school. They will problem solve, research, and collaborate to help their personal container garden be the best it can be.
