My class is FULL OF ENERGY (and cute kiddos)! I teach k-5 self-contained special education at a low income school. I am a first-year teacher on an emergency certificate, due to difficulty in finding a teacher who fit this position. I have 13 students in my class, with exceptionalities including 11 children with autism, and 2 children with intellectual disabilities. Most of my kids are constantly on the move, which makes it difficult for both their learning capabilities and my teaching capabilities. It is tough to find healthy (and safe) ways for children to release built up energy that is classroom friendly. To create the best learning environment for my kids, I am hoping to add lots of sensory-friendly learning tools to my classroom.
